Terms such as pure silk, Kanchipuram, Banarasi, handloom, jari and butta should not be treated as interchangeable signals of authenticity. Each describes a different aspect of fibre, region, style, production or design. Our product pages aim to separate those details and clearly state when composition or documentation must be confirmed.
Silk Claims and Documentation
When a saree is described as pure silk, customers may ask for available Silk Mark, supplier documentation, invoice wording or other traceable evidence specific to the item. Visual shine, softness and home burn tests are not reliable substitutes for documentation. We discourage damaging tests on finished sarees.
Regional and Weave Descriptions
A product may be an authentic regional weave, a saree produced in the style of that tradition, or a design inspired by its vocabulary. Those are not identical claims. Where origin or handloom status is not verified, the description should avoid implying certainty. Buyers are welcome to ask directly for the production details available for a shortlisted item.
Jari and Embellishment
Jari composition varies, and metallic appearance alone does not establish precious-metal content. Product descriptions should explain placement and visual character, while any material claim should be confirmed separately. Care instructions are important because metallic yarn, embroidery and surface work can respond differently to moisture and friction.
